Learn More About Law Office of Ira Halfond, P.A.

Attorney— I currently limit my law practice to estate, trusts, will, bankruptcy, probate and elder
care matters for clients in Florida and New York State. Clients relocating to Florida especially need to
review their estate documents to assure the best family protection.

I began my legal career in 1983 as a public defender with the New York City Legal Aid
Society where I tried over 26 cases- many felony trials. For the last thirty years, I counseled clients in
estate planning which best meets their family concerns. After consulting with a client, we develop an
estate plan which incorporates the appropriate estate documents and title to assets.

I am licensed to practice law in New York, Florida, and Georgia. While practicing law I
obtained my Masters in the Art of Teaching and became a licensed Social Studies teacher in the States of
New York and Florida. For three years I taught Social Studies, Civics, and Critical Thinking classes in the
middle and high schools of Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, and tutored students from
disadvantaged families.

Education- Cornell University—B.S.- 1980
Emory Law School- J.D. – 1983
SUNY Empire College- Master’s in the Art of Teaching-- 2016
